50 years of jet aircraft in the Belgian Air Force signed by three Belgian Distinguished Flying Cross Holders

JS(CC)58d cover produced to commemorate fifty years of jet fighters serving with the Belgian Air Force. The Belgian Air Force was formed from the RAF Nos 349 & 350 Squadrons which operated during World War II. The cover artwork by Tony Theobald depicts some of the jet fighters that have served with the Belgian Air Force including the Hawker Hunter F6 , Gloster Meteor T7 , Republic F-84F Thunderstreak , Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and Dassault-Breguet Mirage 5.

The cover bears Belgiam 17c 50 Years of OTAN/NATO stamp and is cancelled with 50 Years of Belgian Jet aircraft Bruxelles 1000 postmark dated 27.3.99 showing Meteor and F-16 jet aircraft.

The cover has been hand signed by 3 Belgian Air Force DFC holders:

Flight Lieutenant Paul Albert Jules Siroux DFC who served with Nos 249 and 350 Squadrons RAF during WWII awarded the DFC in July 1945

Commandant Gaston Nocholas Dieu DFC who flew with No 21 (SAAF) Squadron awarded DFC April 1945

Flying Officer George Jaspis DFC who flew with No 609 Squadron RAF awarded DFC April 1945.
