Beautiful, large, English, circa 1930s solid oak industrial/factory/office wall clock.

In very good condition for age. No scratches on glass.

On the dial is stamped: ‘

‘NATIONAL ELECTRIC

AQUINAS STREET,

STAMFORD STREET,

LONDON SE1

MADE IN ENGLAND’

Very thick hand-carved rounded oak surround with lovely patina. It is beautifully crafted and a solid piece. The outer ring is made from solid brass. Attractive, readable, black numbering on dial. Slight wear to clock face.

Brass and metal inner movement made by SYNCLOCK.

From the 1930s to the 1960s, synchronous electric clocks were very popular, providing accurate time at low cost. They never needed winding, and every clock in the factory read the same. 

This clock is most probably made to keep time in an office, factory etc.

Measurements:

37cm Diameter

9cm Depth of oak outer case

There is an early Synclock synchronous oak surround clock in the collections of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, England.

The clock is currently wired with a plug and is in full working order although I’m not sure how old the cable and plug is so may need checking with an electrician. 

There is an old sturdy looking brass hook on reverse to hang it on the wall.

Clocks do not like being posted. For this reason, it’s at buyer’s risk. As it is fragile I would prefer collection in person from Worthing in West Sussex on the south coast if possible.

If posted I will ensure that it is well packaged.

Overall a wonderful piece, very handsome and still functional. I’ve not seen another.
