This is an antique Kiua Polychrome Santo Domingo (Kewa) Variety Pottery Dough Bowl. The black rim places the bowl post 1900. It features a used patina suggesting it was a functional bowl in the lives of the Santo Domingo Pueblo. The occurrence of the ceremonial breaks, the interruption of the encircling framing lines, is common on Santo Domingo vessels. It also features a bold decoration, also suggestive of Santo Domingo pottery.
