Deluxe Brown Bess Bayonet & Scabbard - new fromAmerican Hasta Veteran Arms LLC is please to announce the release ofAmerican Hasta'snew Deluxe Brown Bess Bayonet & Scabbard for all Land Pattern Muskets. Introduced in 1748, the British Land Pattern Bayonet superseded the earlier bayonet model, with the main design alteration being the elimination of the pointed shield at the connection of the shank to the socket. This new Land Pattern Bayonet would remain in service, relatively unchanged until it was finally phased out in 1809. This bayonet saw service in all of America's early conflicts including the French & Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812. In 2020,American Hastaset out to create the most authentic Brown Bess Bayonet on the market today. To do this, an excellent original piece was acquired, 3D laser scanned, and reverse engineered. The resulting precision designs were used to create tooling from which could be manufactured exact reproductions, true to the original in all details and dimensions. Because originally all brown bess bayonets were individually fitted to their particular musket and therefore were often not interchangeable, some system of exact fitment needed to be devised that would allow the reproduction bayonets to be used with muskets of varying barrel dimensions produced by different manufacturers from the United States, India, Italy, and Japan. The solution devised involved the incorporation of a small bump or blister inside the socket. This blister is not visible from the outside and does not otherwise compromise the bayonet's authenticity. The blister does, however, take up any slack between the socket and the barrel and can easily be sanded or filed down by the end user to ensure that their bayonet fits their particular piece with exactly the right amount of tension.
