Really neat heavy brass bowl. Has the turned up curve for the neck. Has 4 notches around the outer rim as shown. Has some patina to it. Measures 10 1/4\" by 7 1/2\" by 2 1/8\". Weighs 1 lb 9 ozs.

Bleeding bowls were used to catch blood released during bloodletting, a medical practice that was popular in both ancient and modern societies until the 1850s. The bowls were often used by barbers and surgeons, and could also serve a dual purpose as shaving bowls.
