RailroadTreasures offers the following item: Boston\'s Commuter Rail Second Section By Humphrey Soft Cover 1986 Bostons Commuter Rail Second Section By Humphrey & Clark Soft Cover stapledCopyright 1986 Boston Street Railway Bulletin #20 62 PagesIntroductionThis publication has been prepared as a companion and supplement to BSRA Bulletin Number Nineteen, Boston\'s Commuter Rail - The First 150 Years, by the same authors, published in November 1985. That work is a compact alltime operating history of commuter service on standard gauge steam railroad lines serving Boston, with particular emphasis on routes that are now, or have at one time been part of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority\'s commuter rail system.Commuter rail is, of course, only one part of the rail transportation story. Railroad lines can be classified in many ways, including, for example, purpose, propulsion system, track gauge, and ownership. Most lines would fit into more than one category. For regulatory purposes, all Massachusetts rail lines were once classified as Steam Railroads, Street Railways, or Private Use Railroads. No Massachusetts \"Steam Railroad\" has operated steam locomotives in regular service for the last 30 years, however, and some \"Street Railways\" didn\'t run in streets. Some private ise railroads not only were steam powered but also were located in streets. Most text in this volume has been written so that it can stand alone, but readers will gain a clearer understanding of the events discussed herein by referring to Bulletin #19. Also included is a list of corrections to errors found in Bulletin #19. Finally, there is a chronological summary of some of the major historical events that affected the development of Boston\'s commuter rail system. All pictures are of the actual item.
