Bone object with the inscription "TYRA" Ancient Greeks, 4th-3rd centuries. BC.

Thira was an independent city-state, subject only to a council of archons. In IV-III centuries. BC e. Thira reaches its heyday and begins to issue its own coin. In the 1st century BC e. the city of Tyre is often attacked by Getic tribes. It existed until the 4th century, because the frequent raids of the conquerors destroyed the city. At first, the city was turned into ruins by the Goths, and then the Huns put an end to the existence of Tyra. In modern Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, excavations of ancient Tyra are underway, they are located near the shore of the Dniester estuary next to the medieval fortress built later and are a multi-layered monument. During excavations and research, remains of the culture of almost every historical stage in the development of the ancient city were found.
