Brand New7/8\" Italiannickel silver medal with a nice border around the edge with the words \"Miguel Pro\" and \"Pray for Us\" surrounding the image of Padre Miguel as he was martyred in 1927.The medal has anice shiny finish with oxidation added to show up the details. On the back of the medal are the words \"Miguel Pro SSJ Priest & Martyr\".

Father Miguel Pro was a Mexican priest during the Cristero War, a time of great persecution of the Catholic Church by the Mexican government. Arrested on a trumped-up charge of attempted assassination of the Mexican president, he was executed by firing squad in 1927. In actuality, he was not involved in any plot - the person who was responsible attested tothe priest\'sinnocence - and was killed because of the government\'s attempt to wipe out the Church in Mexico. The execution was carried out with the press in attendance, and meticulously photographed. Padre Miguel first knelt to prayer for and forgave his murderers and then resolutely stood, refused a blindfold, and raised his arms in imitation of Christ, a crucifix in one hand and rosary in the other, crying out \"Vivo Cristo Rey!\" as he was shot.

Padre Miguel was known for his sparkling wit, charity, innocence, and the ability to speak with clarity on spiritual matters without boring anyone. He was only 36 when he was martyred. Pope John Paul II beatified him in 1998. A wonderful role model for today\'s young men and women who may face persecutionfor their faith inmany places in the world of today.
