Vintage 1977 Blas Sbal \"TWO LOVERS\" Storyboard Palauan Palau Hand Carved Wood Folk ArtThis storyboard was intricately hand carved on a wood slab by a Palauan carver, Blas Sbal in 1977.Storyboardsbecame a vital source of income for islanders in Palau. They\'re carvings represent a story from parables and legends. Theyhave their origins in the beams and gables of \"bai,\" the traditional men\'s clubhouses central to Palauan society. The stories were carefully passed down through generations to keep their stories rich and alive.The storyboard depicts two lovers who were not allowed to be together by society, so they tied their hair in knots and together leapt to their deaths from Two Lovers Point on the seaside cliff in Guam.
