Note ~ All borders are even, the right border has been slightly cut off by the scanner but it is intact! (Sorry about that, I tried everything). Minor corner wear, writing on back, card is slightly warped inward but in very good condition otherwise - which is probably why it didn\'t scan well. Very light surface wear to front.The term \"Big Baldi\" likely referred to a specific area or geological feature visible from the railroad tracks, perhaps a large, bald hill or rock face that stood out in the surrounding landscape. Such landmarks were often used by railroad crews for navigation and by passengers as points of interest along the journey. Today, remnants of the PR&N Line, including landmarks like \"Big Baldi,\" are of interest to hikers, rail history enthusiasts, and those exploring the scenic beauty of the Tillamook State Forest and Salmonberry River Canyon. Near \"Big Baldi\" along the Pacific Railway and Navigation Company (PR&N) Railroad in the Salmonberry River Canyon was Bridge 18. This bridge was another notable structure on the PR&N line, known for its height and construction on wooden pilings. Bridge 18, like others on the PR&N line, played a crucial role in navigating the rugged terrain and crossing waterways in the Coast Range of Oregon. There is a steam locomotive on the middle of the bridge in the photo - the number on the locomotive looks to be either 12932 or 12332.
This would have been near Cochran, which was a small settlement along the PR&N that no longer exists today.
