Made in 2014 by Barry Dawson and still looks just like it did in 2014. My old gunshop was a dealer for Dawson knives back then and one of my dear friends bought this sword from my shop back in 2014 for $3,000. The price they put on it. Back then it was the longest Katana Barry had ever made at just over 41” and any blade by him at that point was pretty special. He started Dawson knives in 1975 out of his barn and it’s now got 3 generations of Dawson’s and other employees turning out some great American made blades. So back then most of the knives were not made by him any longer. I’m not sure if he’s still making any today at all or if he ever made a longer katana by hand than this one. I love the Hamon on it and the craftsmanship is top notch. I’ve sent Dawson some pics and messages and seeing as how their swords are going for a few thousand that aren’t made by Barry and more mass produced now I have a hunch $3,000 is a steal on this one and pending what they say the price may get bumped. This isn’t one I own and every dollar is going to my old customer. He’s fell on hard times due to medical issues so I’m selling a few for him commission free. This would be an epic piece to pass on and keep in the family for generations imo.
