BIG! Conus ammiralis sumbaensis #563.1mm,Linnaeus 1758,GORGEOUS BEAUTY from Indonesia. Found by a diver in 15 feet of water at Teluk Santong, Sumbawa, Indonesia, 2024. You know, Indonesia used to be so remote---an area of millions of small uninhabited islands spread over hundreds of thousands of miles of ocean---well, growing up, it just wasn\'t the kind of place that you thought would one day become a major producer of shells, but it has! In fact, recently, Indonesia has produced some of the most awesome and gorgeous shells of the world, shells like this one,and man am I glad about that!. And there is something about the Ammiralis cone that just grabs you... I remember the firstammiralisI found while walking along the beach on Kwajalein. Scott Johnson has some great pictures of live ones he has found and photographed in their habitatin the Kwajalein area on his website, (just Google Kwajalein, you should find it easy.) Anyhow, I had been walking along the beach just after a storm looking for old WW2 machine-gun rounds and such, when there, lying on the sand just in front of me was a still live ammiralis, so he waslivecollected even if he was a \"beached\" shell, ha! Only got one otherammiralisthat way, a small gem, and today, fifty years later, they still are two of my favorite shells!. Oh, an interesting fact about these new Indonesian ammiralis---on the Philippine version of the ammiralis cone, the beige rings of the cone are composed almost entirelyof tiny tent markings. Not so on the Indonesian ones; I was surprised to see that their beige bands are very sparsely speckled with the tinyest of tent makings, making quite a difference between the two. (a new sub-species? If you know, let me know!). Andthis gorgeous one---even with the almost smooth repair worked into its pattern, is a beautifully patterned, dark beauty with a pink-tipped spire and a beautiful lip---simply afabulousshellthat will lookwonderfulon your shelf!The perfect shell for a first-rate collection...

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that\'s why so many of the photos of shells on show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!As for response, as your know, sellers live and die by the response you leaved, (please leave fives!) so if you have a problem, just let me know!
