Best viewedin direct sunlight. Looks grey-brown (last photo) until you turn it to the correct angle for the flash. Pretty much every surface will flash if you find the correct angle with regard to the light source. Flashes mostly coppery golden color with multi-color sparkling flashes mixed in here and there. This one appears to have some machine cuts, but after some study, I have come to the conclusion these are the results natural cleavage as I don't believea machine can make the cut outs that clean.

Size is 30mm x 28mm (41mm tip to tip), 26.4 grams.

Sunstoneis a feldspar,variety plagioclase, variety labradorite, variety sunstone, which when viewedfrom certain directions exhibits a spangled appearance or flash. The optical effect is due toreflections from inclusions of copper, hematite, or goethite, in the form ofminute scales, which are hexagonal, rhombic, or irregular in shape, and aredisposed parallel to the principal cleavage-plane. It has the chemical formula (Ca,Na)((Al,Si)2Si2O8) and has a hardness of 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
