The pins I am offering for sale are of the originalU.S.P.S.base metal design! In 1992 I purchased the remaining inventory of the Commemorative Black Heritage Stamp paraphernalia from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Post Office. To my understanding there are no more being produced & any remaining originals not purchased at that time were melted down.

The pin's design is part of the first series of postage paraphernalia manufactured before 1990 that was offered to the public before an Act of Congress halted their production. Although Black Heritage Stamp pins are being sold today by the United States Post Office, they lack the uniqueness and quality ofthe metal workmanshipfound in the original base metal pins. I offer these genuine original pins crafted from a base metal that match the stamps' dimension, shape and coloring exactly. The current U.S.P.O. commemorative pins consist only of a Black Heritage paper stamp encased in a plastic sheet with an attached safety pin.

These pins are rare and few in number- once these genuine original pins are gone, they are gone! These pins are quality pieces of jewelry that can be worn by men and women on their clothing, displayed in the home or office, or held for their increasing value as a rare collectible item.

The 15-cent stamp was issued January 13, 1979, and a 33-cent stamp was issued September 17, 1999.
