In 1935, when Carl Barks was living in Minneapolis, he saw an advertisement in the local newspaper soliciting artists for the Walt Disney Studio. He quickly submitted his resume to Disney, along with four pen and ink sample illustrations. Two of the drawings from his fertile imagination closely adhered to the Disney Silly Symphony style, both of which have been reproduced in a two-part limited edition in the numbered lithographs released by the international Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Rato., Florida and distributed exclusively by ANOTHER RAINBOW of Prescott l, Arizona. Both drawings in each set have been personally signed by Carl Barks and the copyrights have been retained in his name. THIS IS THE ARTWORK THAT LAUNCHED THE OLD DUCK MAN’S CAREER !
The two four color lithographs of Artwork by Carl Barks Before He became the Duck Man have been produced in a single wide edition of one hundred twenty (120) sets (pairs) of prints, plus fifteen (15) sets each of Artist’s proofs and Publisher’s Proofs. Each print measure 11 1/4 “ in height by 14 “ in width and has been printed on high quality lithographic paper. No other editions exist, nor will any be authorized for publication in the future. No unsigned or unnumbered prints will ever be distributed and all printing plates have been destroyed to prevent future use.
