Antique Nippon~Japan~Noritake Porcelain Compote/Pedestal Bowl 1911-1921 Arts & Crafts

This is an antique porcelain Nippon ( pre 1921 made in Japan) compote / pedestal bowl/dish made by the Noritake Company.

This piece is hand painted.

Per the marks this piece was produced between 1911 and 1915 possibly as late as 1921.

7 3/8 in wide including the handles. 3 1/8 in high. A nice size for nuts candies or just a pretty display piece or for your Nippon Collection.

There is a delicate design with gold beads (called *Moriage- tiny gold beads sometimes found in Japanese pottery) florals and gold trim. Colors are avocado green, rusty red, pale lavender, soft butter yellow and a dark green as well as actual gold accents. Subtle and beautiful. Tiny gold Moriage goes around the inside top of the bowl, bottom and top edge of the floral design as well as around the foot of the piece. On condition it is very good. Chip free. There is some wear to the guilt handles and trim, to be expected on a piece of this age. There is a very faint circle below and above the floral band that may have had more color. There are a couple dots in the porcelain that have to do with manufacturing. Best to view and enlarge the pictures. Hand Painted Nippon mark in green with the M in the center w/wreath surrounding ( M is for Morimura, the brothers that created the company).

A notable comment on Noritake as a collectible is that Frank Lloyd Wright designed dinnerware design for them even! A star in anyone’s crown!
