Antique c.1832-50 W. Greaves & Sons Sheffield Fork & Knife Carving Set Cutlery- William Greaves of W. Greaves & Sons built the Sheaf Works, the world\'s first large scale cutlery factory, on the Canal Basin at Maltravers Street, Sheffield, England, taking advantage of the new canal to deliver goods to market. The company closed in 1850 in the wake of Mr. Greaves death.
