An extremely hard to find Antique pack of Thos De La Rue playing cards - LONDON OPINION - “LIMERIQUE” with the rules but unfortunately the pack is incomplete as the Ace of Spades is missing.

The following information is on the back of the box:

“Thos De La Rue & Co Ltd card makers to His Majesty King Edward VII”

The rules state “Patent No. 21701 /1907” which fits in with the information given on the box as King Edward VII reigned 1901-1910

The Patent number and date is also on the back of each card.

51 cards from a deck of 52 cards (NO ACE of SPADES) in their original box. There are no jokers.

Wider size cards.

A specially designed pack of cards combining an ordinary deck of playing cards with a series of unfinished Limericks.

26 of the cards have the first four lines of a Limerick and the other 26 cards have the last line of a Limerick.

The purpose of the game is to complete as many Limericks as possible.

The game may be played by 2 or more players.

This is a well used deck of cards with definite signs of handling although the backs of the cards are generally quite clean. The fronts have handling marks, some cards more so than others. No tears or creases noted though.

I’ve shown photos of all the cards so please look at them all carefully before deciding to buy.

I pondered listing the cards separately as single swap cards due to the Ace of Spades being missing but I’m loath to split up the deck unnecessarily when there could be a collector who is happy to buy them as they are.

However, if there’s no one interested I will probably delete the listing and list the cards separately.

The rules have age spotting and some discolouration and creasing.

The box is in poor condition. It is grubby and has scuffs and bumps with some damage.
