an Antique porcelain Rosenthal / Tatler & LawsonCongressional Library commemorative dinner plate.Gilt in 22 karat Gold, enameled in Green with atransfer image of the Thomas Jefferson Librarywhich was founded and opened in 1874. Thisplate dates to 1904.
TheThomas Jefferson Libraryis so named afterhim for his generous collection of books for whichThe Congressional Library is built upon. We nowknow this large Washington DC facility as theLibrary of Congress, from which copyright isfounded, and a historical collection of artifacts.
This porcelain plate was made by Rosenthal anddecorated by Tatler & Lawson of Trenton, New Jersey.
The back is numbered 521 2 and bears boththeRosenthal andTatler & Lawson hallmarks.
Weighs 15.5 ounces.
