The Punal, also known as Gunong also known as belt kris is adagger from Mindanao, south Philippines and the Visayn Islands. It used asutility knife as well as a weapon for self protection, carried by both man andwomen. The Punal is a short dagger, single or dual edged with a slightlyslanted handle. It is carried in the back of the waist sash while it comes invarious lengths it is usually only attributed as a dagger type weapon.
