1893 H.S Crocker Geographical Map of California with a Very Early Winemaking Reference. This is a wonderful ORIGINAL example of this map. It measures 26.75 X 31 inches. It has some conservation on the back (shown). I am not a map expert, so I do not know the quality of the conservation but it was bought from a map collector in the Washington DC area. There is one large strip of what feels like paper tape on the back and a small strip (all shown) there are several small pieces of ultra thin clear tape on a few seams.
This map shows some of the earliest references of California Winemaking and is collected by oenophiles when they can find it. This map is reproduced and this is not a reproduction. The paper is extremely thin and it is the correct size for the original. The folds are correct. It is the real deal.
The map was printed by Henry Smith Crocker, the brother of Charles Crocker who was a Central Pacific Railroad magnate. This map was printed to promote the family business in the development and settlement of California.
This is a fantastic piece of California and winemaking history. It will be shipped rolled around a rigid cardboard tube, with protective paper and in a hard paper tube. Recent examples of this map have sold for well over 1400.00
