I have collected, admired, and traded these wood carved European book holders for awhile. This piece is one of the most beautiful carvings that I have had the pleasure to examine. There are two flaws - one petal tip broken off on each flower - see the photos. That said, the life-like weight of the leaves of this flower (I suspect a Narcissus) in the carving and how they naturally drape is a testament to this wood carver\'s skills. The photos don\'t fully capture this nuance, but even they are striking evidence of this piece\'s uniqueness.
