...... H.S. & B. CO .... No. 1908 - 8 IN ..., are the stamped markings, on this Antique Used Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett Reversible Ratcheting Hand Drill BRACE with an 8" sweep, from about the early-1900s
...... My photos show the exact item that you are getting, and are a major part of my description. ~ The nickel-plated hand drill measures about 13-1/2" tall, and has varnished wooden head and sweep handles, plus a 2-jaw chuck for auger bits with square tapered tangs. The ratchet mechanism has been cleaned and tested to operate in either direction, or remain locked in the middle position (by the knurled selector ring).
...... This pre-owned brace has was cleaned with 0000 steel wool and fine brass wire brushes. It has some degree of wear, micro scratches, and some plating loss SPOTS (as seen in the pictures) ~ The wood handle pieces have some small scratches, and tiny wear marks.
