Circa 1880\'s Ansonia cast iron mantle clock is in very nice condition. The case is painted solid cast iron (the clock weighs 18 1/2 pounds) and is in good conditon overall, with cast lion heads on both ends and faux painted wood grain trim above and below them. There are minor flaws in the finish from well over 100 years of use, but nothing out of the ordinary. The clock case would likely benefit from a good cleaning. Please see photos.
The circular access cover on the back of the case is missing. The clock mechanism is in great shape - very clean and solid. A patent date of 1882 is stamped in the frame. The clock seems to run as it should - I did not notice any issues with its operation. A winding key comes with the clock.
