ANTIQUE NAUDOT GIRL & DUCK PORCELAIN VASE

This listing features a charming old Camille Naudot figurative vase of a darling little girl and a duck. It is marked underneath with the intertwined initials of important French porcelain artist, Camille Naudot. This particular mark is important because it is only found in early, better Naudot pieces. Later copies were most often made in China and distributed by Ucagco. This little vase is original and dates sometime between 1904 and 1919. It comes from my grandmother’s extensive European porcelain figurine collection.

It measures slightly over 5 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches deep by 3 inches wide. The hand painting and applied porcelain flowers are remarkable. Such ornate, over-the-top details are what the French did so well. Porcelains in this tradition always remind me of cakes with lots of icing and sugar roses because both are so impossibly sweet.

This vase was treated with respect and the condition is outstanding. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, or crazing, just the appropriate wear on the base and a little “time grime” from storage (easily cleaned away). There is one tiny nick on the interior of the vase that is easily overlooked.

Either one of these vases is a wonderful example of Nadot’s work for any level French porcelain collector.
