This satin glass canister is most likely from England and made between 1880-1920. It would have been used for biscuits or what we call cookies for a tea time treat. It seems to have gotten a lot of use during its\' lifetime. Most of the floral design appears to be intact, but there is a lot of wear and patina on the metal on the rim, lid and handle. there are no markings so I cannot say as to what kind of metal it is made of but there was no rust on it even before I cleaned it. As you can see from the photo, the inside of the lid is has a bend that may be able to be straightened. It does not seem to affect the way the lid sits on the canister though. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.
