This is really a wonderful original. I actually have researched and researched this piece and was unable to find another example of it. I thought that was quite odd considering just about everything Charles Magnus did is in some sort of Institution or Museum. I have found other examples of this Magnus engraving dating to later in the 19th Century with more recent presidents on it but not this one. The last president on this print is Franklin Pierce from 1853. I finally showed it to a curator at one of the Institutions I work with and she was able to identify it. What it actually was was a letterhead on the top half of the page. The bottom was used for writing of the letter. This institution had a copy of a letter written on a sheet with this letterhead. They actually didnt even have the original so I dont know if another example of this original engraving exists. Image measures 6 x 8 inches on sheet measuring 10 x 12 inches. Overall a very good example. Consistent toning with a little darker around the edges but nothing too bad. Chipping to the edges as can be seen in the pictures. Old pencil price in the upper right corner. Really an excellent scarce early piece of American ephemera. Do your own research on this piece. See if you can find another example.
