For sale is a rare pair of candle sticks made by Meissen around 1730 . Each of the candleholders is nicely modeled and is hand painted with a very early version of the blue onion design in that nice blue color you don\'t find later on anymore. They have a really very attractive shape and they look superb on my dining room table. The pair of sticks displays superbly and they amazingly are in the same condition they were in when first made but not without flaws. Being very early pieces they have quite a few firing cracks to them as shown but they are original to the pieces - they were not as strict yet and didn\'t mark their pieces if they were not first quality. A sure signs these are very early. A few small spots where the glaze didn\'t take but otherwise free from any real damage. The pair is of a very nice size being 9.5 inches tall with the base having a diameter of 6 inches. Very stable unlike many other candle holders these days. Each is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark with the dots as shown - and yes I know this mark is normally associated with the 1760s but it was also used in the 1730s. No impressed numbers which is another sign of them being early plus one of them has a bossierer\'s mark as shown which is another sure sign of them being early. There is no doubt they are from the 1730s and just an amazing find.
