Also known as Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, (Our Lady of Guadalupe), the Patron Saint of Mexico. This piece refers to the Marian Apparition itself as the Virgin Mary seen by Saint Juan Diego in a vision in 1531.The Letters S. M. D. G can be seen in the legends. Signifying Saint Maria De Guadalupe. This impressive example shows nice detail and wonderful patina with light deposits of dirt and many areas of original gold gilt evident. It also retains its complete worn but unbroken suspension loop. This beautiful early colonial representation of Christianity will make a great addition to any collection.
