You will only pay the TRACKED shipping ONCE if you WAIT for my combined invoice if its a similar weight and destination. Here is a most interesting antique American official document from the Georgian England period... dated 1799....it has 2 pieces of official paper joined together with a small peice of green silk thread....which goes thru and under the large embossed SEAL on the top left of the main large sheet.
Top left says State of New York, U.S. of America.... the embossed seal says IOHN WILKES NOTARY PUBLIC . STATE OF NEW YORK with a coat of arms in the centre.
The main wording on the paper is printed on at the top and bottom.. the rest of it is hand written manuscript type... the main wording starts ...... I John Wilkes , Notary Public ...bla bla bla which you should all be able to enlarge and read... it then starts with the hand written part...John Juhel of this city of New York Merchant / Gentleman well known to me and worthy of full faith and creit .... and it carries on to say that he is the owner of the attached bill of trading shipped by him on board the SCHOONER SUKEY & POLLY ... ELIJAH TIFFANY, Master bound from this port of New York for Saint Thomas ....it then goes on and the bottom section has John Juhel name again and his signature and John Wilkes signature too.... near the bottom there is another small circular embossed seal this has the EAGLE on it and wording TWENTY FIVE CENT - NEW YORK.
Turning this paper over it has 2 paragraphs of hand written wording as well...signed by John Wilkes and William L. Palmer ...him being His Majestys Britannic Pro-Consul at New York...interesting too the watermark is BRITANNIA with a CROWN above.
This bit of paper is 12 and half inch x 7 and half inch.
The smaller bit of paper which is attached with the silk thread is at the top.. it is slightly longer and it is folded over the front of the main sheet.
This too is part printed and part hand filled it.... it has a circular embossed seal of the American eagle and same TWENTY FIVE CENTS - NEW YORK .. wording.. then an oval black printed picture.. this has a large initial S in the centre with a ship, and merchandise being unloaded from it.
This initial S is of course the start of the word Shipped in good order and well conditioned , by JOHN JUHEL in the Schooner called Sukey Polly ..the master on the present voyage Elijah Tiffany in the harbour of New York and bound for St Thomas ...being the property of the shipper and he is a citizen of the United States of America ...this is dated and signed by Elijah Tiffany , 1799...and John Juhel....on the back is hand written what is on board the Schooner Sukey & Polly...which includes... 50 barrels of prime pork, 40 barrels prime beef , 50 boxes of claves , 200 cheese, 147 barrels of flour , 1700 staves... or something like that.. with afew other items too which I cannot read....this bit of paper is approx 10 and half inch x 6 inch. .Apologies if I have anything written down incorrect...as I cannot be as accurate with some of these type of documents as I would like to be.. I am happy to learn more from the folks that KNOW more than me...cheers..Lee.See pics.
