Alfred Barye (1838-1882) Small Bronze Sculpture Children Playing Leapfrog:

This is a patinated bronze sculpture that depicts a pair of children playing leapfrog. The hat of one of them is over the field. The sculpture is supported by a green square shaped marble base. In one of the sides of the bronze base is hallmarked Barye fils.

Alfred Barye was a 19th century French sculptor who was mainly known for the “Arab Warrior Knight on Horseback” sculpture and his animals’ sculptures. He was a pupil of his famous father- Antoine Louis Barye, so to differentiate their artworks, he will sign Barye fils.

This sculpture is in good condition. Signed on the terrace.
