This beautiful raw Alamo Impact Breccia rock weighs 6.35 lbs (2880.31 grams) and comes from the United States. It is a unique collectible that any rock, fossil, or meteorite enthusiast would love to add to their collection. This rock comes from the epicenter of the impact near Area 51 in Nevada, making it a rare find.
Thissample of impact breccia, and the other 92 samples that will soon be listed, isfrom the actual epicenter of the Alamo Impact at Tempiute Mountain in contrastto others offering samples that were collected from other locations whereshallow platform limestone was disturbed by shock waves caused by theimpact. The samples were collected onMarch 19, 2024, by Dr. Alan Chamberlain, President, and Chief Geologist ofCedar Strat Corp.

CedarStrat geologists first measured the Alamo Impact Breccia at Tempiute Mountainin Nevada on May 13th, 1985. They thought it was reeftalus. However, Dr Chamberlain\'s PhD advisor, John Warme, from theColorado School of Mines first recognized it as an impact breccia while on afield trip to Dr Chamberlain\'s field areaon January 3, 1990.

The bollide impact occurred in the early LateDevonian (early Frasnian or about 370 million years ago). The impact of the bollide shattered theshallow Guilmette sea platform limestone and likely threw the shattered limestoneor breccia into the air. The brecciarained back down to earth and formed a 470-foot bed of pebble sized breccia atTempiute Mountain, which is probably near the impact epicenter. Thissample and the other samples being offered were collected from the bed ofpebble sized breccia at Tempiute Mountain, near Area 51, in southern Nevada,USA.
