Authentic handmade paper-mache laquer box from the city of Mstera (one of three cities famous for producing high-quality hand painted lacquer boxes out of paper-mache.  This box features the fairy-tale \"The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights\" based on an 1833 poem by Aleksandr Pushkin telling the story of Prince Yelisei\'s search for his love, the Tsarevna (princess), who has been cast out by her stepmother.  The artist, C. Petrunina, signed her work.  The box was made in the late 1980s.  The box is 3.25 inches in outer diameter and 2.75 inside. The box has one minor production imperfection: a tiny air bubble in the hand painted lacquer.
