Under consideration is a stunning antique/vintage, 18” H x 10 3/4” D, Asian, round, wooden BIRDCAGE. Handmade with many handcarved elements, which greatly enhancing its look.
Design elements:- Cage was constructed used 1/16-inch vertical wooden slats, separated by 7/8-inch, and joined together using 1/8-inch horizontalwooden slats every 2 1/8-inches.- Uniquely, the 2 1/2-inch wide entrance door is designed to slide open vertically.
These are exceptional hand carved design elements present throughout the cage.- The 8-inch long carved dragon shaped perch, attached internally (photo# 11 & 15).- A 2-inch tall hand carved wooden, decorative Budda figure, attached to the cage wall (photo# 11 & 16)- Three jade rings are attached by string to the cage. (photo# 11 & 16).- A 3-inch tall carved wooden carrying handle support located on center top of cage with a 3 1/2-inch metal hook carrying/securingdevice attached. Included are 3 jade decorative rings and 2 carved ivory/bone decorative rings. (photo# 11 & 16).- Four hand painted porcelain bowls, attached to the cage wall. Three are seed bowls, one a water bowl (photo# 11, 15, & 18).- The large top part of cage is attached to the base using 3 support brackets. Easily removed and reattached to ease cleaning(photo# 19).- A metal handle is attached to the bottom side of the base to ease carrying of the cage, upside down with no occupants.
Condition:Cage is antique/vintage and in excellent condition. Construction is of delicate materials, which are most subject to damage with usage.Fortunately, this cage has minimal damage. There is only one small missing 2 1/4” vertical slat from the cage body, unusual consideringits age. The wood base shows signs of use. Some wear is evident at the entrance area by the vertical sliding door.
