Typed letter signed on a postcard by the famed Czech historian, genealogist & Archivist to the important Antiquarian bookseller Karel Zink, in Prague, Trebon, 1949. The card features his return address stamp and name on the verso.

Hewas a very important historian and archivist in history of the State regionalarchive in Třeboň as well as in the history of the Czech archival science ingeneral. Born in Vienna, he spent most of his life in south Bohemian town ofTřeboň. He graduated with a PhD in history from the Charles - FerdinandUniversity in Prague in 1910. He was astudent of important Czech historians Jaroslav Goll, Josef Pekař and JosefŠusta. He passed the state archive exam it the prestigious \"Institut fürÖsterreichische Geschichtsforschung\" in 1911. Markus entered the serviceof prince Schwarzenberg´s archive in 1910 thanks to Goll´s and Šusta´srecommendation. He was nominated as the head archivist in 1925 and became it´schief. He had worked in the Třeboň archive until his forced retirement in 1945.First time he drew attention to himself was to document the separation withAustria after 1918. He also played an important role by the writing the Archiveagreement in 1936. He was an important Czech genealogist and popularized genealogyand also was a founder of the Genealogy society (1929).
