MERCHANDISE DETAILS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION This is the RARE QUART HARDEN’S STAR having the tall, neck, tooled-lip and patent date on the base. The usual Hardens have a short neck and ground, burst tops, often with chips, and a plain base(See pic). This top is of a wide funnel-shape, thicker glass and has hand-tooled edges, hence none of the roughness and chipping common to all the other Harden’s variations. The color of this Hardens Qt. is a CHESTNUT AMBER, leaning toward a red-amber. Not a drab brown, the RICHNESS of the color is brought out by the sparkling condition of the glass. It measures approx. 8” High and 5-1/2” Wide at the center band. All the embossed lettering is clearly shown in the pictures, including the verboten word GR- - ADE.
CONDITION This fire extinguished is virtually MINT! There is a only a slight dullness inside the upper neck/lip caused by the alkaline cement that was in the extinguisher for many decades. Short lines/grooves on the rear of the neck band are tooling marks, not damage. There is NO chipping, cracks or staining. The embossing is especially BOLD & CRISP, accentuating the large MELON form and color! It is EMPTY; the original brine contents, cork & mortar plug are long gone and no residue remains. You are buying a BRIGHT & SHINY gr- - ade that will look gorgeous on your shelf!
