This listing is for a striking collector plate featuring the American Methodist Bicentennial 1784 - 1984. Approximate diameter is 10 1/2-inches. This plate is in excellent condition.
The back of the plate says: BICENTENNIAL AMERICAN METHODISM Approximately sixty preachers gathered at Lovely Lane Chapel in Baltimore on Christmas Eve, 1784. At this conference the Methodist Episcopal Church was formally organized. Although there have since been separations from the parent body, each separated Methodist body looks back to this historic conference as an integral part of it own tradition. Personalities who shaped Methodism and were important in its history were John Wesley, Francis Asbury, Charles Wesley, Thomas Coke, Susanna Wesley, William McKendree, Jacob Albright, Philip William Otterbein, and many others.
