PIONEER NAVAL AVIATOR, TEST PILOT, NAVAL AIR COMMANDER IN THE PACIFIC WHO ACCEPTED THE SURRENDER OF THE JAPANESE ON TRUK. Document signed. Leaf from an aviator\'s logbook, 1924. Signed as CO of Torpedo Squadron 20. Murray: (1889-1956). USNA (1911); aviation instruction at Burgess Co., Marblehead MA (1914); NAS Pensacola (1915); appointed Naval Air Pilot no. 17 and designated Naval Aviator no. 22 (1915); inspector at Burgess Co. and then Gallaudet Aeroplane Co., Norwich CT (1916-17).; he tested the Gallaudet 59-A center-mounted propellor aircraft (1916);XO of NAS Hampton Roads; first CO of NAS Anacostia (1918); CO of Torpedo Squadron 20, the first aviation squadron ordered to the Asiatic Station (1923); OIC of the first aeronautics class at the Naval Academy (1925); various XO spots commands, Asst. Naval Attache in Paris, Berlin and the Hague (1930-33); CO of the USS Langley (1930: at the outbreak of WWII he commanded USS Enterprise and was returning to Pearl Harbor from Wake Island at the time of the Japanese attack (1941); raided the Gilberts, Marshalls, Wake, Marcus Islands and escorted USS Hornet when she launched Doolittle\'s B-25 raid against Tokyo (1942); he participated in most carrier engagements of the first year of the war, including a major role at the pivotal Battle of Midway; CO Task Force 17 at Guadalcanal and Santa Cruz Islands (1942); he organized and commanded the Naval Air Training Command at NAS Pensacola (1943); Commander, Naval Air Force Pacific Fleet (1944-45); he accepted the Japanese surrender at Truk aboard USS Portland (1945); other commands until his mandatory retirement after forty four years of continuous service, at which time he was promoted to the rank of Admiral (1951); he earned the Navy Cross commanding USS Enterprise (1942); the Distinguished Service Medal as CO of Task Force 7 and numerous other decorations; Britain: Order of the British Empire.A-1952

I guarantee all the items in my collection to be authentic. I will pay the return postage on any item that is found not to be authentic. If you decide you want to return the item for any other reason I\'ll be happy to accept the return but must deduct my listing and final valuation costs. All returns must of course be in the condition in which they were mailed.

No matter how many photos or autographs you order (assuming they\'ll all fit in one 9.5 X 13 envelope) you\'ll only pay the P&H for one.
