Infamous 3rd Vice President of the United States and legendary Hamilton duel participant, AARON BURR lengthy handwritten letter from Philadelphia to Pierpont Edwards, Burr's cousin, concerning a pending $750,000 real estate deal for the "purchase of Western lands". Burr'sbeloved wife Theodosia would die just 18 days after this letter was written.
At the time of the letter, Burr was a Senator from New York.10 years later, then-Vice President Burr would become infamous as Alexander Hamilton's murderer in the notorious 1804 Weehawken, NJ duel. The killing of Hamilton effectively ended Burr's political career.
Burr writes from Philadelphia on 30 April, 1794:

"I went to N.York on the 10th & I waited till the 16th to meet you agreeably to your appointment - You know the rest but the whole mortification till not arise from my own disappointment - I took with me from this place an English Gentleman who proposed to join with us in the purchase of your western lands - he would be, for many reasons an advantageous connection, and is willing on behalf of himself & associate to go as far as 750,000 - my proposition was that they should hold 2/3 and we the remaining third - when & how and where will they be sold and for what sum?

I am glad that you have put the mortgage in suit - Pray get possession and close the equity of redemption as speedily as you can, that I may be able to sell the estate.
