A numbered Cross Verve in Merlot with 18K white gold medium nib withoriginal box and outer box. Marked “6090”inside the section.

The Verve line was a departure from Cross’s traditiondesign. With retail at middle $400's whenreleased, it was a large high-end pen in Cross portfolio. It was discontinued in 2008.

This merlot pen has deep purplish-grey color with a finediamond-shaped etching over the metal casing of the pen. Looks substantial inthe light.

The Verve is known for its superb nib. It’s very beautiful and futuristic 18k whitegold nib made by the Japanese company Namiki. Some says the nib and section appear to resemblea shark's head...very sleek.

The nib has a “C” in the middle of an ellipse, with “M” markedon the left side of the nib, and "18K 750" stamped on the fight side.The nib is of a 360-degree conical design, but in two pieces, one top half andone bottom, to allow two extra breather holes on the sides of the nib. It writesvery smoothly, and the nib also has a little flex to it, more so than most of othermodern pens.

This is a large pen.Has a good weight, substantial but not heavy.
