32mm Larimar gemstone sphere from the Dominican Republic. This aesthetic sphere is carved from natural Larimar, a rare mineral with vivid sea blue blue to white coloration. First found in 1974 by a Dominican native and a member of the US Peace Corps, Larimar is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic. This precious gem is volcanic in origin, said to hold the colors, depth, and beauty of the Caribbean sea. The name is derived from the name Larissa and the Spanish word for sea, mar. Includes a hand carved tripod wood stand as pictured. A wonderful rare Larimar sphere for display, study, collection, and metaphysical use.
