3 Belfast CDVs by E.T. Church Ireland portrait photographer 1880s E.T. Church was a famous Belfast photographer, and these images show why. All 3 people are engaged and actively participating in their portrait sitting. Their clothes are beautiful and well-made, so I suspect that Church was not a bargain basement portraitist.Rounded corner cards measure about 4 x 2.5 inches. Image is about 3.625 x 2.25 inches. Portrait oval is about 3 x 2 inches.
Below each image are:\"E.T. Church\" and \"Belfast\"Light surface scratching to all 3 cards. Light soiling to cards. Two of the three photos have some chipping at the scratches in the darkest areas (see photos). This is particularly noticeable in the man\'s photo. At first, I thought the lighter areas at his eyes were reflections on his glasses, but now I think maybe some of the darker area chipped off there. There is also loss of dark color above his head, and in the border outside the photo. The woman with the pointed lace collar has areas of white in the hair above her right ear, on her right shoulder, and just below the middle of the portrait.My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn\'t able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it\'s a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
