Description and History:

These are three great photos of the Graf Zeppelin in Recife, Brazil Circa 1930. All are approx. 3 1/2\" X 2 1/4\". They were all togetherin one collection and taken at the same time.

Upon inspection, I can see that the three of them look relatedbased on the three white sided boarders and the photopaper is the same. The Graf Zeppelin first visited Recife, Brazil in 1930 as part of the famous Triangle Flight. It then became a destination for the Graf Zeppelin over the next few years. How do I know that these photos were taken in Recife, Brazil? I use a digital microscope as part of my routine research into photos to either prove or refute where they might be from and/or what is the subject. I attached several photos of the photos blown up on the microscope in this listing. The first photo is the one where the Graf Zeppelin is still airborne and is angled to land. Just under the center of the Graf Zeppelin and on the ground between the furthest two people in the photo, you will see some shadows in the background. That is most likely the ground crew. The next photo is the Graf Zeppelin moored to its mast next to a a building. Blow that part up and its no mistake, that is the Recife Mooring Mast and Buildings next to it. You can easily match those buildings and the mast to anyone of several well known photos of Recife on a number of popular Airship websites. You can also see several large Palm Trees in the distance. The path leading up to the building is an exact match as well. That is Recife. In the same photo and near and under the rear of the Graf Zeppelin are a couple of vintage motor cars parked near it. The last photo which has the Graf Zeppelin name in big letters is where people lined up to see the Graf Zeppelin up close and possibly visit the Gondola. Now for the real detective work! These photos are all B/W but they are printed on Fujicolor Paper. These photos were probably first developed in the 1960s, almost 30 years after they were taken. I would love to have those negatives. Color film was mainstream by then and film laboratories just used what they had for photo paper. I don\'t believe you will find copies ofthese photos anywhere and they are most likely the only ones made. I spend hundreds of hours scouring the internet, books and my items for new information every month. I have never seen these photos before. Now you know what I know. They are three small photos but they pack a ton of information.
