**Meteorite Types and Characteristics in my opinion **

**Aletai Iron Meteorite**

Origin: Mainland China

Description: Known for thick Widmanstätten patterns and often contains various inclusions, sometimes confused with Seymchan.

Hardness: 9/10

Types: Above ground and underground

- **Above Ground:**

- Pro: Better rust resistance, suitable for daily jewelry wear

- Con: Price is three times higher than underground.

- **Underground:**

- Pro: Cheaper option

- Con: Prone to rust, requires periodic treatment, not recommended for daily wear.

**Seymchan Pallasite Meteorite**

Origin: Russia

Description: Features thick Widmanstätten patterns, often found with yellow/greenish olivine. Offers very good rust resistance.

Hardness: 7/10

**Sericho Pallasite Meteorite**

Origin: Kenya

Description: Resembles Seymchan but with a rounder shape. Olivine often found yellowish. Susceptible to rusting. Many sellers often coat them with a thin layer.

**Muonionalusta Iron Meteorite**

Origin: Sweden?

Description: Featuring fine Widmanstätten patterns. Very similar to Gibeon. Buyer beware! Often sold as Gibeon.

Hardness: 8/10

Types: Above ground and underground

- **Above Ground:**

- Pro: Better rust resistance, suitable for daily jewelry wear

- Con: Price is three to five times higher than underground. As far as I know, there are not many left.

- **Underground:**

- Pro: Cheaper option

- Con: Prone to rust, requires periodic treatment, not recommended for daily wear.

**Gibeon Iron Meteorite Slice**

Origin: Namibia, Africa

Description: Features fine Widmanstätten patterns, very identical to Muonionalusta. Gibeon prices are significantly higher, and distinguishing between them can be challenging. Extremely rare due to export restrictions.

Hardness: 8/10

Pros:

- Excellent rust resistance, suitable for collections.

Cons:

- Difficulty in distinguishing from Muonionalusta meteorites.

- Export restrictions on the source country.

These insights are based on my experience as a meteorite collector, supplemented by online research and direct conversations with reliable sources.
