This was the 100th Anniversary of the Charge given by Stephen Dill Lee to the SCV in New Orleans in 1906. He spoke to the UCV United Confederate Veterans and the UDC United Daughters of the Confederacy. Lee was assigned as aide-de-camp to Brig. Gen. P. G. T. Beauregard. That same day, he delivered an ultimatum from Beauregard to U.S. Maj. Robert Anderson, demanding the evacuation of Fort Sumter, which was refused. He was the first president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Mississippi from 1880 to 1899.
