Introduction:

You may think that the price is a little high. You can buy a used, unmaintained Kanna around $30 to $50 on the ,but if you don\'t have much experience with Kanna, maintaining it so that it can be used properly will not work even if you spend days doing it properly.It is generally said that even a carpenter needs five years to become proficient with a plane, and it is the most difficult tool among carpentry tools.

To improve your Kanna skills, it is essential to first use a plane that has been fully maintained for immediate use.

I think that the price is worth the time and effort of maintenance.In particular, the superiority of Japanese Kanna is more evident with a new base.

These are hand plane “Kanna” fully maintained for ready to use. Please check video and photo and feel free to contact us for more details.

These used Kannas are.

Cleaned, disinfected and removed the rust, blacking with gun blue liquid.
Double-edged blade with Chip-breaker
The wood Dai is used.
The surface of the Dai-sole is tuned in two-point touch.

(A) 梅翁/ Baiou 65mm, Vintage Original

- Blade: 65mm (2.56in) Wide (lower) x 108mm (4.25in) Hight,used.
- Wood Bottom Dai: 83mm (3.27in) Wide x 271mm (10.66in) Length x 36.0mm (1.42 in) Thickness, used.

(B) 武正/ Takemasa 57mm, Vintage Original

- Blade: 57mm (2.24in) Wide (lower) x 105mm (4.13.in) Hight、used.
- Wood Bottom Dai: 72mm (2.83in) Wide x 247mm (9.72in) Length x 32mm (1.26in) Thickness, used.

Inmy video, I performed planing a SPF wood timber using each Kannas. Asa result of fine tuning of wood bottom and sharpening the bladeedges, wood shavings leaped out from Kanna were very thin like a silkfabric.

Whenyou buy a used Kanna you have to set up it to planning in smoothly byyourself. Not only sharpening the blade-edge, but also reshape theblade, also sharpening the chip-breaker blade (counter-blade) andtune the sole of wood bottom “Dai”. It took a few days to havethese tuning.
