2.7\" Spectralite polished palm stone from Madagascar. This aesthetic stone is carved from Spectralite which features flash coloring when turned at an angle in the light, shining iridescent rainbow colors in flash areas within the surface of the stone in a broad area on one side of the piece. Spectralite is a trade name for a more colorful variety of Labradorite. It is a variety of plagioclase feldspar often seen with an oil-slick effect. The flash color of Spectralite tends to be less structured than Labradorite and can potentially show all colors of the spectrum. This Spectralite is found in a different location than other Madagascar Labradorite. A similar find of this material was first found in Finland, known as Spectrolite. There is some debate as to whether the trade name Spectrolite should be used for this newer Madagascar find, so the Madagascar find came to be known as Spectralite with an \"a\" to differentiate between the two. This palm stone is handpolished for a smooth finish around the stone.
