Mardi Gras doubloonsare about the size of an old silver dollar, with some exceptions. Usually, they are round, but other shapeshave been appearing, and are becoming more popular. The doubloons thrown from a parade are oftenaluminum, and may be colored or not.Since these doubloons are inexpensive shipping costs can exceed theirvalue. We occasionally list aluminumdoubloons, but more often list collector doubloons known as heavies.

Heavies comein bronze and oxidized silver, which is a bronze doubloon covered with silveroxide. Also, multis, which aremulticolored versions of doubloons, are much more ornate, and worthcollecting. Some are colorized on bothsides, others are colored on only one side.Some have thin colorful plates attached to bronze doubloons, others areenameled. Less common are copperdoubloons.

Duals aretwo color doubloons, and may be heavies or aluminum. They are also collectible.
