[1984 LOS ANGELES OLYMPIC GAMES, TIFFANY & CO, ABC SPORTS]

On offer here is an ORIGINAL c.1981 TIFFANY & CO. CRYSTAL GLASS MUG EMBOSSED WITH THE 1984 OLYMPIC LOGO. The mug was gifted to ABC Sports (ABC had the official 84' Olympics broadcast rights) Executive, Gwendolyn Dean. The mug is accompanied by a small gift card from then ABC Sports President, Roone Arledge. We suspect Ms. Dean assisted with planning for the broadcast coverage with the Olympic Planning Committee (which is why this occurred about 1980-81) and this mug was gifted by Arlege as a token of thanks. The mug is a tad dirty, but we decided not to clean it for fear the important label on the bottom of mug might come off. The mug is in otherwise 'as new' condition with original packing material and trademark 'Tiffany blue' box as shown.

We've not seen another mug like this. Of course there are other forms of mugs and glasses with the Olympic logo, but this example appears to not only be quite early (dating to about 1980 - 81) but also obviously made by Tiffany & Co. The box which bears the ABC label and Ms. Dean's name has written on it '#1'. We have no idea how many of these were produced, but likely not many; a dozen perhaps ? (this bears some additionalresearch).

Suffice it to say, this is a RARE and desirableartifact of the successful and memorable 1984 Olympic Games.
