Marty Tripes, one ofthe crowd favorites and two-time win-ner of the event, had this to say aboutit: \"It\'s too dangerous. But,the AMA has no way of knowing if theseguys are qualified or not, becausethey’ve accumulated enough points intheir own districts to become qualifiedprofessional riders. To us, these guysmight seem like they\'re just real tur-keys, but back on their own tracks,back East or in the Midwest or wher-ever they\'re from, even other places mCalifornia, where the guys are super-stars, they just dominate their region.In a country as big as this there are somany little places where a guy canmake a name for himself, but then hewants to come to the big city and findout what it\'s like. These guys maynever ride again when they find outwhat kind of competition they\'re upagainst, but they have to find out forthemselves, I think.
